At St Kenelm's CE Primary school we take the Safeguarding of our children very seriously. All staff share our commitment to safeguard and promote the welfare and safety of the children in our care.

St Kenelm’s CE Primary School is a place where everyone is included, contributing and reaching their full potential. Our ethos is a statement of who we are, and it is an expression of our character. We describe our ethos through a particular set of values that inform and provide the foundations for everything we do.

Safeguarding is defined in Working Together to Safeguard Children as:

providing help and support to meet the needs of children as soon as problems emerge
protecting children from maltreatment
preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development
ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care and
taking action to enable all children to have the best outcome.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility; staff in school, parents, family members, friends and members of the public. If you are concerned about a child, remember it is your responsibility to report it straight away. This could be to the school, or to the Police or Family Front Door.
